Academic
Integrity
This document articulates University policy on academic
integrity in research and publication, and prescribes procedures
for impartial fact-finding and fair adjudication of allegations
of academic misconduct. Although it focuses upon deterring
and penalizing unacceptable conduct, its purpose is to promote
compliance with the highest scholarly standards.
Animal
Subject Use
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is committed
to performing animal-based research which is relevant to
human and animal health and is in accordance with the Animal
Welfare Act and other federal guidelines and policies. The
Office of Laboratory Animal Resources (OLAR) provides assistance
to the campus animal care units regarding all aspects of
laboratory animal husbandry; administrative support for
the campus Laboratory Animal Care Advisory Committee (LACAC);
and advice to investigators concerning care and use of animals
and veterinary care (through the Program of Laboratory Animal
Medicine) for all laboratory animals on campus.
Conflict
of Interest
This University of Illinois Policy on Conflicts of Commitment
and Interest provides a framework and identifies procedures
for consultation and advice on conflicts of commitment or
interest matters, for resolution of situations in which
a conflict may exist, and for approval of exceptions when
warranted. The Policy makes every effort to balance the
integrity and interests of the University of Illinois with
the integrity and interests of individual academic staff
members.
Human
Subject Use
All research involving human subjects that is conducted
at or sponsored by the University of Illinois, whether funded
or unfunded and whether conducted by UIUC faculty or others,
must comply with the federal policy for the protection of
human subjects.
Research
Safety
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is committed
to maintaining a safe research environment in compliance
with required regulations. In this regard, the Division
of Research Safety provides guidance on applicable federal,
state and local rules, regulations, standards or practices.
In addition, DRS develops programs designed to assist the
campus community in the safe use of biological, chemical
and radiological materials. Specific policies regarding
the management, transport, storage and disposal of these
materials can be found in the Campus
Administrative Manual.
Software
Piracy
This policy focuses on respect for intellectual property,
specfically computer software, and delineates guidelines
for responsible use of software to prevent and discourage
unauthorized copying of software.
